May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

May is Motorcycle awareness month. Image of a motorcycle at sunset May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Safe riding and driving practices, looking out for motorcyclists, and a commitment to motorcyclist safety will help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on Nevada’s highways.

From 2015 through 2019, Nevada lost 297 lives to motorcycle crashes on our roadways. Safe driving and riding practices from all road users will help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on our nation’s highways. Additionally, the completion of a rider education and training course can ensure a safer riding experience. As May nears, we should all commit to our role in ensuring a safe motorcycle-riding environment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has distributed a fact sheet with tips for drivers to improve their awareness of motorcyclists on the road. View the fact sheet here.
