May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

Nevada is a popular attraction for motorcycle riders, both for recreation and commuting. As the weather starts to get warmer, it is important to remember to share the road with motorcyclists. To help everyone remember, the month of May has been named Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in Nevada.

With hundreds of fatalities in Nevada and thousands across the country each year, motorcyclists are significantly over-represented in traffic crashes and fatalities.

Safe operation, increased rider training, and motorist awareness are the focal points of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Motorcycle clubs and organizations will be working with highway safety officials, the Nevada Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety, and the Nevada Department of Transportation to promote motorcycle safety throughout the month of May.
