This Labor Day holiday season, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) is calling for a National Enforcement Mobilization to reduce impaired driving with their “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
Andrew Bennett, Department of Public Safety spokesperson, warns that the deadliest stretch of the year is still to come. “…Historically, Nevada experiences an increase in fatalities from Memorial Day to Labor Day,” Bennett said. “It’s important every day to think about traffic safety and put yourself in the best position to get home safely.”
In Nevada and throughout the U.S., it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher. Yet every year, about one-third of all deaths on our roads involve impaired drivers. As the Labor Day holiday is one of the most dangerous on our roads, State and local law enforcement will be making a special effort through the Joining Forces Target Enforcement Event leading up to and throughout the Labor Day holiday to protect us all from drunk drivers. The Joining Forces Event will run from August 25th through September 10th .
So, remember, this Labor Day and every day: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
