Every five years, SHSP partners from across the state work together to update the Strategic Highway Safety Plan, to refocus efforts to reduce fatalities and serious injuries over the next five years, working toward Nevada’s goal of Zero Fatalities.
The update process kicked-off earlier this year with a Peer-to-Peer Exchange with five other states on SHSP Implementation and with the Nevada Traffic Safety Summit in March, where teams drafted new strategies for each Critical Emphasis Area (CEA). Based on the latest crash data, CEA Chairs and Vice-chairs have led the development of new strategies and action steps, which will be presented to the Nevada Executive Committee on Traffic Safety (NECTS) as the 2016-2020 Update at their next meeting, September 29, in Las Vegas.
