Strategic Highway Safety Plan 2026-2030

What is the SHSP?

Nevada’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) is a statewide safety plan and framework for reducing fatalities and serious injuries on Nevada’s roadways. The SHSP establishes goals and strategies developed in collaboration with federal, state, local, and private-sector safety stakeholders. The SHSP is updated every five years. The SHSP Action Plan is a supplemental document to the SHSP, and identifies the specific action steps and output measures for strategies within the SHSP. The Action Plan is updated annually, or as action steps are completed.

SHSP Structure shows Steering Committee Provides high-level guidance and vision, has Approximately two meetings per year, and Committee members, facilitation team, and invited interested parties can attend. Strategy teams then hear from guest speakers and subject matter experts, receive updates and information on actions and activities from the task forces. Strategy Teams each meet once per year and have informative with presentations, lead by Co-Chairs. These meetings are Open to all. And finally, Task Forces Implement and track actions, Provide subject matter expertise, Identify barriers and challenges to implementation, Identify actions/activities or topics to present to the Strategy Teams. Task Forces meet quarterly in workshop-style to discuss on-going actions, and these meetings are open to Co-Champions, Action Step Leaders, Interested Parties, and Facilitators. Action Step Leaders focus on priority subject, often times in alignment with regular duties to move forward strategies based on specific actions with deliverables based on output measures and Participate in Task Force Meetings.
