New Traffic Safety Laws

The 80th session of the Nevada Legislature saw several changes to Nevada traffic safety laws. Please see information below on two new laws.

SB408—This bill expands Nevada’s helmet law to include moped and tri-mobile operators and passengers. Operators and passengers not wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT)-compliant helmet will be subject to two demerit points on their driver’s license in addition to fines determined by the local jurisdiction.

AB201—This bill increases penalties for persons who participate, promote, or facilitate trick driving displays. Penalties may include fines, community service, jail time, suspended driver’s license, and possible vehicle impoundment.

These laws take effect on October 1st, 2019.
