Nevada Traffic Safety Awards Recognize Outstanding Safety Champions

The Nevada Department of Transportation and Department of Public Safety will honor exceptional traffic safety leaders at the 2026 Nevada Traffic Safety Summit on October 13-15, 2026. The annual awards program recognizes individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to traffic safety in Nevada through accomplishments in the public and private sectors by state and local governments, federal agencies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. 2025 Nevada Traffic Safety Award Recipients

Boundary Peak Achievement Award

Recipients included Lieutenant Michael Campbell of Clark County School District Police Department, who championed data-driven safety initiatives including the Red Curb Safety Project resulting in a 50% reduction in vehicle-pedestrian conflicts at schools; Lieutenant James McRae of Nye County Sheriff’s Office, whose targeted enforcement grant on the US-95 corridor resulted in a remarkable 63% reduction in fatalities in 2024; and Kevin Tice, Traffic Records Program Manager, who leads Nevada’s statewide traffic crash and citation system and has significantly improved and expanded the state’s traffic records data collection and reporting system.

Safer by Design Engineering Excellence Award

Honored the City of Las Vegas Transportation Engineering Field Operations Team, a 60-member team that handled over 20,800 tasks between July 2024 and July 2025 while maintaining more than 150,000 pieces of infrastructure citywide including 660 traffic signals across 1,400 miles of roads.

Silver State Safety Influence Award

Recipient Hal Goldblatt has been instrumental in spreading awareness about road and pedestrian safety through numerous media interviews and public forums, helping create the nonprofit Stop Road Crashes and partnering with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to create a public service announcement reaching over 250,000 people.

Bernard Hartung Leadership Award

The program’s highest honor, recognized Andrew Bennett, Director of the Clark County Office of Traffic Safety, who has dedicated more than 16 years to traffic safety advocacy following the loss of his sister to an impaired driver in 2009 and has fundamentally reshaped regional traffic safety approaches through data-driven solutions and cross-agency collaboration.

These awards underscore Nevada’s commitment to achieving zero fatalities on the state’s roadways through innovation, collaboration, and unwavering dedication to public safety.
