Event Highlights How to Be Safer Traveling to School

It always seems like school starts earlier every year, but this year in Clark County—for the second year in a row—it really does! With classes beginning August 12th, it is the earliest start to the school year ever. Considering the heat, this year we are squeezing a week of safety events into one morning, held inside (with air conditioning) at the Boulevard Mall. The Mall is located at 3528 South Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas, NV.

On Wednesday, August 7th from 10 am to 1 pm, families can come and learn about safe travel for whichever way their children travel to school. From booster seats to biking, walking or being driven, we will have experts on hand to help. Parents may pick up a tip or two about serving as better examples as well.

We will be at the front entrance to the Mall, with Clark County School District (CCSD) and Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) buses in front to provide tours and teach about safety. Inside will be booths and a bike rodeo to teach childrem about bike safety. Each child will be fitted for a helmet before taking a turn on a bike.

Experts will provide lots of tips for walking safely for parents and children. Come be part of the safe kick-off to the school year and help us reach our goal of ZERO Fatalities in the coming year!
