The winning art for the Save A Life, Win A MacBook 2019 contest was unveiled at the RTC of Southern Nevada (RTCSN) Mobility Training Center. The top two winning bus posters will remain on display at the training center’s entrance at 5165 W. Sunset Road in Enterprise, NV, along with locations throughout town.
The first-place winning artist Yurida Diaz Reyes was awarded a MacBook Pro laptop by Heidi Gonzalez, General Manager of Vector Media, the sponsor of the project, along with the RTCSN and the Southern Nevada Pedestrian Education Task Force and Zero Fatalities.
The second-place winning poster, which will be displayed as a message to transit users inside buses, reminds pedestrians to keep alert and put their phone away; the second place winning artist was Jany Armas-Sanchez. The runner-up for the bus shelter poster contest was Exon Alverado, whose poster is also on display around the Las Vegas Valley. Both of these students received a Kindle Tablet as a prize.
Principal of Cashman Middle School, Sindy Biernacki was also on hand to congratulate students and commented on the importance of students learning to cross streets safely and said that she is “thrilled that art teacher, David Vivo, offers his students great life lessons along with superior art training.”
